The additives for wearing parts are primarily known as anti-wear (AW) agents and extreme pressure (EP) additives. Their main function is to form a protective chemical film or layer on metal surfaces to prevent direct metal-to-metal contact, thus reducing friction, scuffing, and abrasive wear.
